This piece was inspired by the large ancient necklaces worn by Frida Kahlo when she was alive.

While I was in Mexico many years ago I came across some stunning Cryscocolla beads that looked so much like the ones Frida wore I bought them.

Later when stumbled upon a set or now rare pumpkin turquoise beads from China I bought those, and combining them with the round Jade piece at the bottom I created this stunning necklace in honour of the ever inspiring Frida.

​On this piece we have Serpentine, Turquoise, Jade, small Green Jasper beads, Crysocolla, and dark black green Hypersthene sometimes referred to as the venus stone.

Turquoise: This stone is full of amazing properties, it is good for Innovation and inventiveness, it strengthens and aligns all chakras, and provides the wearer with protection grounding, and balance. In many cultures of the Old and New Worlds, this gemstone has been esteemed for thousands of years as a holy stone, a bringer of good fortune or a talisman. It offers us strength and protection from harm as well as increasing our sensitivity to the spirit world around us.

Jade: is said to be revered as a “Dream Stone,” in many ancient cultures, and used to access the spiritual world, to gain insight into ritualistic knowledge, encourage creativity, and dream-solve. [Melody, 341][Raphaell, 161] It is cherished as a protective talisman, assuring long life and a peaceful death, and is considered a powerful healing stone. [Mella, 87] An amulet of good luck and friendship, Jade signifies wisdom gathered in tranquility, dispelling the negative and encouraging one to see oneself as they really are. [Hall, 152]

Jasper is a earth element stone and very grounding. For centuries people have used the unique markings in this stone as a way of divination and telling the future. Picture Jasper allows us to tap into the ancient past of the earth and meditate deeply on own own inner knowing by connecting us to the earth.

Hypersthene is a gorgeous gemstone that is widely unknown, and is in the same family as bronzite which has a natural chatoyance like a cats eye or a labradorite and shimmers a very dark greeny bronze.
